Position Summary

AFairchild CPA Firm is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Tax Manager to join our growing team of professionals. This leadership role is responsible for managing tax engagements for a diverse client base, including individuals, corporations, partnerships, and nonprofit organizations. The Tax Manager will oversee the preparation and review of tax returns, provide expert tax planning and advisory services, supervise and mentor tax staff, and contribute to business development initiatives.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise in tax matters, exceptional leadership and client relationship skills, and a commitment to delivering the highest quality service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Manage and oversee the preparation and review of federal and state tax returns for corporations, partnerships, nonprofit entities, and individuals.
  • Develop and implement effective tax planning strategies to minimize client liabilities and optimize financial outcomes.
  • Conduct tax research and analysis on complex tax issues; provide well-reasoned recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality service and maintaining strong, trusted relationships.
  • Provide proactive tax advice and guidance tailored to clients’ unique business and financial needs.
  • Collaborate with clients on strategic planning initiatives, growth opportunities, and risk mitigation.
  • Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of tax professionals, fostering a culture of performance, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Provide coaching and development opportunities for staff at all levels; conduct performance reviews and support career progression.
  • Promote collaboration across service lines and encourage knowledge sharing within the tax team.
  • Ensure firm-wide compliance with applicable federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Monitor and interpret evolving tax legislation and policy changes to inform clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate potential tax-related risks; establish and maintain robust review and quality control procedures.
  • Participate in business development activities, including networking, attending industry events, and cultivating new client relationships.
  • Contribute to the firm’s growth objectives by identifying opportunities to expand services and deepen existing client engagements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master’s in Taxation preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in public accounting, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state tax codes and compliance requirements for corporations, partnerships, individuals, and nonprofit entities.
  • Proven leadership and staff development capabilities.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage client relationships effectively and collaborate across all levels of the firm.
  • Experience with CCH Axcess or similar tax software preferred.
