The Staff Accountant will work closely with clients and firm leadership to provide accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, and tax support services. The Staff Accountant will work closely with clients and firm leadership to provide accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, and tax support services. This position offers exposure to a wide variety of industries and client engagements, making it an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional seeking to expand their skills in public accounting.
Responsibilities:
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual bookkeeping services for multiple clients.
- Prepare and maintain general ledger accounts and supporting schedules.
- Reconcile bank, credit card, loan, and balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Assist with correcting accounting discrepancies and implementing improved accounting procedures.
Client Accounting Services
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Assist clients with accounting software support, including QuickBooks Online and Desktop.
- Prepare and review sales tax filings and other compliance reports.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
Payroll Services
- Process payroll and payroll tax filings for clients.
- Prepare quarterly and annual payroll reports, including Forms 941, W-2, and 1099.
- Assist clients with payroll-related questions and compliance requirements.
Client Service
- Communicate professionally with clients regarding accounting matters.
- Gather and organize client information requested for engagements
- Maintain confidentiality of client information.
- Develop strong client relationships through responsive and accurate service.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
- 1-3 years of accounting experience preferred; public accounting experience is a plus.
- Experience with QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple client deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
